DEAR YOUNGER SELF

What would you tell your younger self? I recently watched an amazing video of women sharing what they would tell their younger selves if given the chance. Besides cracking my ribs with all the humour, these phenomenal women had some solid stuff to share with the audience of over 15,000 women.

It made me think, what would I tell my 10 or 20-year-old self? Days ago I stumbled upon one of my pics probably taken when I was around 2. That pic has made me so nostalgic and emotional. My curly hair, red and white pyjamas and tiny brown boots are branded in my mind. I was holding a pen in the pic…probably speaking into my future that I’d be signing big cheques……(I’m always manifesting my higher, wealthier self😜)! But I think what stayed with me is the innocence I could see on my face. I looked so pure and dainty. Tears well up in my eyes when I look at that picture and think of every experience that has broken me and shaped me 30+ years later.

So…

Dear Younger Self,

Firstly, I miss you so much. I miss your innocence and trust. Cherish that, because life will do a serious number on you in the years to come. In the 3+ decades God has given me, here are some things I’d like to tell you:

  1. Have boundaries: Guuuuurrrllll…..HAVE BOUNDARIES! Learn to say no and be your authentic self. Don’t allow people to walk all over you. Not everyone will like you, and that’s okay.
  2. Live a little: I know you take things too seriously. Relax and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everything. Guess what….things always work out. It may be different from what you thought, but it will always be for your good. Live!!!
  3. Fam bam: When things are thick babe, you’ll be left with family and very few honest friends! Spend much time with your mom and siblings because they’re your life. Be kind and generous to them. Spoil them when you can and dote on them every opportunity you get. They’ll take care of you when life feels like it’s crushing all around you.
  4. Kill the sweet tooth: Thiiiis! Sweetie, you’ll soon realise that your sweet tooth will have weight consequences😂😂. Get rid of it now. Eat right and flaunt your tiny waist every chance you get because sugar is cruel to your body! (But you can occasionally indulge in a macaron or four😉.)
  5. Spend money wisely: Oh honey! I know you love the good life. And don’t stop!! However, be a wise steward of your finances. Someone said that God is a Wise Investor, He will only invest when there’s going to be a ROI. Be better with your money boo. Learn the principles of money and implement them early.
  6. Find your authentic tribe: Have friends you can be real with in a safe space.  Ask God to give you genuine friends who will rock with you on a bright day and on a stormy night….because life is all about seasons. And also work on being a good friend too. Check in on your pips and be there for them on their hard days too.
  7. Most importantly….God’s got you: He really has. He had a plan bringing you into the world, and He has a plan to keep you alive. Even when He’s silent, He’s working it all out for your good. Chiil and just trust in your Father. He loves you beyond words and worlds!

Younger self, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe when time travel is a real thing I will share with you the other crazy lessons I’ve learnt in life through the different seasons, but for now, mull on these. Love you younger self❤️❤️.

Always,

Posh 💕
